A croissant with a twist, a delicious MUSHROO filling. Here’s an easy and delicious recipe that’s perfect for breakfast or brunch:

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup white button mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup of mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • An amount of salt and pepper according to personal preference
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Topping with sesame or poppy seeds (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Mushrooms:
    • In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
    • Add the finely chopped white button mushrooms and cook until they release moisture and become golden brown.
    • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside to cool.
  3. Prepare the Filling:
    • Mix the sautéed mushrooms with cream cheese and shredded mozzarella in a bowl. Ensure it’s well combined.
  4. Prepare the Puff Pastry:
    • Pat the puff pastry sheet down with a little flour. Depending on your taste, cut it into squares or rectangles.
  5. Assemble the Croissants:
    • Place a spoonful of the mushroom and cheese filling on each pastry square.
    • Fold the pastry over the filling, creating a triangle or rectangle shape. Seal the edges with a fork.
  6. Egg Wash and Topping:
    • Beat the egg and brush it over the top of each croissant for a golden finish.
    • Optionally, sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top for added texture and flavor.
  7. Bake:
    • Place the assembled croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    • After ten to fifteen minutes in the oven, the croissants should be golden brown and puffy.
  8. Garnish and Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly. Garnish with fresh parsley.
    • Serve your Mushroom Croissant Delight warm, and enjoy the heavenly combination of flaky pastry and savory mushroom filling.
